- The county seat, is just a couple of miles down U.S. Highway 191 from Morenci
- Population: approximately 3,500
- Historic mining town, with first mines developed in the 1860s
- Located along the San Francisco River
- Population: approximately 750
- Located 30 minutes from Morenci along the Gila River, not far from the New Mexico border
- Primarily a farming/ranching community
- World-renowned for Native American artifacts found along the Gila River – items such as arrow heads, pottery, burial sites, cave paintings and other remnants of the Anasazi and other pre-historic cultures
Graham County
- The county seat
- Population: approximately 10,000; about 47 miles south of Morenci
- Agricultural community
- Located at the base of Mt. Graham, rising to 10,720 feet and home of the densest concentration of Black Bears in the Southwest
- Stargazers – this is a prime spot for hosting observatories, including the Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT) (photo) located at the Mount Graham International Observatory (MGIO), and the Heinrich Hertz Submillimeter Telescope, or SMT operated by the Arizona Radio on Mt. Graham
- Population: 4,865
- Located approximately 50 miles south and west of Morenci
- Features Mt. Graham Municipal Golf Course, a traditional 18-hole par 72 course
- Home to Eastern Arizona College
- Population: approximately 2,500
- Located in the Gila Valley along the foothills of Mt. Graham, 8 miles northwest of Thatcher
